Sign in to disble this ad
I'm getting an SWR Super Redhead combo amp. I want to know from all of you that own or have owned this amp: what do you put in your 1 rack space provided on the amp? Rack Tuner? Compressor? Digital Effects? Power Conditioner? Filler Plate? Rack Vent? Breath Mints? Rack Drawer?

I had one for a few years when they first came out and I placed a grill plate in the third space...primarily because my SM-400 used to get VERY hot...so I wanted to insure good ventilation

Good luck w your Super Redhead!!!

Why did you use a compressor? Did you feel the need to with that amp? What were the advantages? Disadvantages?

I don't have one, but if I did, I'd put a Korg DTR-1 in it.

I had one for a short while and ended up putting a compressor in the rack. I felt it needed it to see the most output out of it. I ran it with a golliath jr at the time and thought it's power ratings were a little ambitious for the output I heard. I also had a 400 W Eden with 410 Eden cab that outperformed it for volume (tones were great on Both amps but different). The compressor definitely helped the overall tone and volume of the super red head but I've always preferred a slightly compressed tone. YMMV.

If you have a free rack space, you must fill it with something immediately.

The same applies to any open input or output jacks.
