Question SWR Super Redhead + SOB replacement

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I have a SWR Super Redhead + SOB extension cab, like a few people have commented it lacks the bottom end, I need that punch playing in a metal band. Despite that 30hz boost option for a low B, it doesn't seem to add anything more. By itself the SRH is very weak, the SOB adds a little but it's not quite enough.

So getting to my question, I need power, a real workhorse but in an efficient size, carrying around the redhead and ext cab is a serious work out. Can I get some recommendations on a good setup? I'm fine with head+speaker, it doesn't have to be a combo. My price bracket is largely dictated by what I can get for the SRH + SOB, my guess is around £900-£1000 with what I can front with my own cash also thrown in. I'm a 5-string player almost exclusively now, so something that brings that out as much as possible would be good.

Thanks.
