SWR Triad and Mesa M2000 Hi all, I'm new to the forums, and I am really enjoying reading all the posts. I would like to get some perspective on using a Mesa/Boogie M2000 with the SWR Triad (possibly 2). I have long since been a believer in matching the amp to cab, but would like to try experimenting with different combinations. Cheers! |
If you are thinking about buying a used Triad, I wouldn't. They sound quite nice, but are very heavy, and due to the somewhat mismatched speakers and unusual crossover/hi passing/low passing design, there were lots of reports of blown drivers (I think primarily the 10" driver). If you already have the Triad cabs, the Mesa2000 is will drive them, and almost any other cab (given the massive EQ capability of that head) quite nicely! I had a 2000 quite a few years ago, and it sounded good with pretty much anything, and had LOTS of power. Any high quality 212 or 410 would match up nicely with that head. I would recommend the Bergantino HD212 or Baer ML212 if you want a nice, big, wide open but controlled tone (if you have the cash). |
