SWR vs. Ibanez

Why is it that the SWR Headlite is more expensive than the Ibanez Promethean? The SWR 100watts less than the Ibanez. Is this because it's just a "name" thing? Anyone have any insight?

If you buy a Headlite you're paying for the name and a semi-parametric EQ... but mostly a name . It's a great amp but a little too expensive and not quite what I would want tonally (lil' too shiney up top for me). For me, the Ibanez has a nicer tone. Smoother bottom with more punch without the biting treble. For the price of the SWR I'd look at a Markbass F500.

Or the GK MB500. I just bought one, they are very reasonably priced and sound incredible!

I think SWR jumped the gun with both the Headlight and amplight and overpriced both... Unless you are an absolute die hard SWR fan, there are just too many good reasons to buy other similar amps instead.

If you want an SWR, buy an SM-400, 800 or 1500. Buy a 750, 550 or 350 head. If you want an Ibanez...well, they aren't really known for their magnificent amplifiers at all. Genz Benz are overpriced AND lightweight but happen to be solid. Same deal with Markbass. Sorry for the rant.
