SWR Workingpro 12 (Please Help!)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I was just playing around with my old SWR workingpro 12 amp, and I REALLY love the sound the head puts out, but I'm not too crazy about the speaker. I was wondering if any of you have experience putting Combo Heads into a custom rack. I would love to do this so I can push my Carvin speakers with it. There are two wired connecting the head to the enclosure. One is the cord for the speaker, but I'm not sure what the other one is...anyone know?

The other may be going to the horn as the crossover is most likely in the amp chassis, this is how my old Workingman's 12 was wired. I took the chassis out of the combo cabinet on mine and made a really nice oak case for it with cutouts top and bottom rear for the heatsink to allow real flow of air across it. The front of the case was angled to match the angle of the front panel with the knobs recessed to prevent damage. Overall, it turned out excellent; I no longer have it otherwise I'd make some photos to attach.

Yeah, there is a horn control on the side. So if I disconnect that wire, it wont mess with the sound of my head any? it's just for the tweeter control?

The other wires are for the monitor side chain input, the controls and input for which are located on the side panel next to the tweeter control switch. you could leave the combo intact and simply use a separate cabinet when needed, thus preserving the value and full functionality of your combo.
