Synth > Tube preamp

Here's the dealeo

I have an SWR Marcus Miller preamp, Crown XLS1500 Drivecore and an Ashdown ABM 8x10 cab.

I've just bought a new synth for bass parts to get the awesome tones I'm searching for.

Am I going to do damage/much/serious damage if I put the synth through my SWR Marcus Miller?
I never play synth and bass at the same time so I figure I can put them both through my rig if I'm not going to destroy it.

PA where we rehearse isn't able to handle my synth.

Thoughts everyone?

with synths in general, be careful with the lo cutoff freq as that can mean reconing drirvers ... Until you are familiar with the setup of the various patches and how the rig behaves with them, bring up the volume slowly. ... extreme patches often mean an extreme load on your rig...

other than that, my recommendation is really listen to your rig, get to know what is cool synth tone vs your rig's death throes ... quote from a guitar playing buddy in my teens "it sounded great, right before it died". In his case it was an old Fender Bassman Amp. The overall concept is pretty similar...

I've got a highpass filter on at 50Hz so hopefully that should help shape my low frequencies nicely with the synth but yeah, I'll keep my ears out for that!

Hi.

The pre will be fine, as will the power amp, but if "precision tuned plywood cabinet" means an ported enclosure, I'd pay close attention to the frequencies and the power distribution.

If there's too much emphasis on the fundamental, even regular bass E (E1 41.20Hz) may blow the speakers if You're not careful.

But You do have healthy ears, right? .

Regards
Sam

My 8x10 is not ported actually, just the 8 drivers.

I used to use my mod'd Fender Twin (open backed) as part of my synth rig, I just rolled all the bass off there, and let the rest of my rig carry the lows. Could be incredible with the right synths.
