Talkbass on Ampeg Website

Sign in to disble this ad
As many know, the Heritage B-15, new Portaflex series, and a couple of new BA combos were officially announced on the Ampeg website today. Ampeg also mentioned "Talkbass" specifically by name in the write up about the Heritage B-15. I thought that was a pretty cool thing for them to do! Props also to fellow TB'er Mark Gandenburger of Vintage Blue for being mentioned as having collaborated on the new cab design. Way to go Mark!

Ampeg Unearths the Holy Grail of Bass Amplification with Launch of Heritage B-15
Originally debuted at Bass Player Live 2010 by Darryl Jones and stirring up a ridiculously intensive and lively conversation on the forums at Talkbass, Ampeg proudly announces availability of the extremely limited edition Heritage B-15 flip-top bass combo. Joining the ranks of Ampeg’s popular Heritage Series, the Heritage B-15 is hand-built in the U.S. and fully endorsed by Jess Oliver (inventor of the iconic B-15). The Heritage B-15 delivers legendary tone in the most premium Ampeg design ever.

“The Holy Grail of bass amplification is back,” remarks Ampeg’s Director of Amplification, Pyotr Belov. “Hand-built and hand-wired in the U.S., the Heritage B-15 is truly a labor of love and no expense was spared… it’s an unabashed tribute not only to Ampeg’s history, but to the man himself, Jess Oliver.”

The Heritage B-15 features the circuit paths of both a 1964-era B-15NC and a 1966-era B-15NF, including classic Baxandall tone stacks and premium N.O.S. preamp tubes along with a bias switch, recreating each years’ distinctive bias methodology. The extremely high-quality flip-top cabinet features the legendary double-baffle design and houses a custom-designed 15˝ Eminence® driver with a massive 109 oz ceramic magnet. Hand-built by renowned tube amp builder, George Metropoulos, and designed in collaboration with cabinet expert, Mark Gandenberger of Vintage Blue, the Heritage B-15 exudes the unmatched quality in construction and performance that made the original the most recorded bass amplifier in the world.

The Ampeg Heritage B-15 is available in the U.S. only with a 2011 limited edition release of 50 units. Each Heritage B-15 includes a signed letter of endorsement from Jess Oliver and features commemorative badges on both the head and cabinet.

not announced yet but save your pennies if you want it.

i liked how they called the heritage b-15 thread a "ridiculously intensive" thread. boy oh boy, i never saw emotions race like i did in that thread! one minute everyone's all excited, then they're ready for blood, then they're all excited again, just back and forth like that over and over. and that was before anyone knew the first thing about it.

damn, seeing that heritage b-15 really eats my kishkes out. i so want that amp. but the kids' education comes first, i guess. rotten kids but i'll have one one day...you wait!

Ironically, as badly as I want that B15, I am curious about those small BA combos. They look cool! I love my BA112, what could it hurt to have a mini version? Or two???

Trying to imagine what $4 grand worth of amp should sound like and wondering if any amp could sound that good. I suppose however that this falls more into the 'collectable' catagory due to the extremely limited production. Were I to buy one at that price it would be nice to have assurance that there would be no further production runs considering the value is based on the incredibly limited supply.

Jimmy I caught your post on the Ampeg site, they can take that write up you did and turn it directly into Ad Copy for these products, you need to hit them up for a writing gig : )

lol! my wife would like to move to seattle, that's for sure

faulkner, no matter if they reissue it again or not, this is the first one in 30 years and it'll remain the first one in 30 years, so stop trying to talk them into not making more when i can afford it

$4000 price tag or not, if i had the money, one of them would already be on its way to me.

I think they should sell Jimmy one for manufactures cost. If they do that I will buy one at retail.

I'll probably buy one retail any way.

lol! very nice of you to say but i'd buy it at retail if i could afford it. i'm just a huge fan of the stuff they're doing now and i'm happy they finally made a proper b-15 again. and honestly, i still probably couldn't swing it till my kids are out of school and have jobs and move out. ever see what insurance is for a 19 year old kid who's been in a car accident?

now you multi-millionaires out there...buy me one of these and you'll get free comps to bowzer shows for the rest of your life! or his, whichever comes first.
