The TB110 Club!

Sign in to disble this ad
Inspired by this thread: Low-cost DIY practice/coffeehouse tweeterless 110 [long] I present to you the TB110 Club!

Huh? What the heck is a "TB110?"

Created by fellow TB'er Duke LeJeune, the TB110 is based on the Eminence Basslite S2010 driver and a pre-built cab sold by Parts Express and kicks out all kinds of portable bass goodness for a price not more than a few sets of strings.

For example, this is MX21's TB110:

For those daring enough to delve into such a high-level of DIY madness (That's sarcasm, folks...this thing is dead-easy to build. It's a pre-built box and a driver...doesn't get any easier than that!), the rewards are great! You get portable tone and a nifty membership number in this exclusive club! Post in this thread for a number, but make sure you post a pic of your completed TB110. Also, please be sure you update the main thread (linked above) with your build pics or at least a pic of the completed box. I know a few of you are working on your box; when you've played through it and posted a completed pic, that's when it's done. Membership numbers will be updated in this, the original club post.

Thanks for the number.

Just played 3 Sunday morning services with the 110 powered by a GK MB110. Now that the 110 is getting broken in, it's really sounding good.

Really good. The MB200 is a good match. See my additional comments on the MB200 in the other thread.

I don't have enough experience to give an objective review. It is certainly loud with what likes seems like lots of clean tone. Sorry I can't help more.

The completed cab, as shown in my pic (second post of this thread) weighs 25.7 pounds on my digital bathroom scale. The cab is made of 5/8" MDF which isn't the lightest stuff in the world. But for $22, you can't go wrong!

Duke had said in the other thread that these would not do good with an acoustic bass guitar have any of you played one thru it yet? That is really scaring me of trying this since i do most of my playing with my acoustic! And also if any of you have played the eden 110xt how does this stack up against it?

When Emminence ships their 3010LF for a mini-fEarful I'm planning to build, then I'll join your club! I've never been happy with single driver cabs. I've owned several 110s and found them lacking tone-wise. Obviously, a 110 is woefully lacking for gigs requiring mid-to high volume. It is, however, a perfect size for all the low-volume gigs I do w/acoustic bass. Nice to see the experimentation here!

Here's mine - #7

Note the handle mounted on the side - I found that on top, it projected enough to interfere with my head (Genz Benz 6.0)
