TC 450 amp owners: Tubetone control question ??

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings

I have a Classic 450 which is great. However, when I use the Tubetone control there is no change in tone until the knob reaches 4 and there there is a noticealbe jump. Then there is a very slight increase from 4 - 7 and then from 7 - 10 it increases to the maximum.

Is this how your control works? I would like to have more control from 1 - 4.

Thanks

I don't really use the tubetone much, but it seems pretty 'smooth' to me through its entire rotation... starting out very subtle, and then adding grit and grind through its entire rotation.

I guess I would suggest using your ears and not your eyes. It doesn't really matter what position the knob is in if you find a tone you dig.

I do occasionally dial in the tubetone to around 9 o'clock... that adds a bit of warmth and give to the feel of the amp without adding 'distortion'.

Thanks..

The problem is that I most likely will use small amouts of this effect and right around 4 the effect jumps from 0% to 40% and I would like to have more control of the first 40% of the effect.

Sounds like you do not have the same issue.

i guess I will email TC

Try moving the "gain" knob back a notch or 2 ....seems to give mine a little more "play" in the tubetone circuit.
