TC cabs, RS212 and RS210s

I think I have made my mind up and I will be ordering an RH450 and two cabinets. I am looking at going modular here and I love the idea of stacking them vertically for gigs and in my rehearsal studio. I am just not sure on which cabinets to get.

Considering I have a 4x10 now (GK cab and head), I am always feeling like I am missing something for the deep low end so I was thinking of going with an RS212 for the bottom and an RS210 for the top. I have not had a chance to listen to the RS212 cabinet but I have read from some owners it can be kind of boomy sounding and not as tight/crisp as the RS210.

Anywho just interested in hearing some thoughts on this to help me finalize my purchase. My musical style is a bit on the aggressive side, fast finger funk, some slap here and there. Genre I fill is mostly hard rock.

Its not 'boomy' if you like a good fat low end. A small room will make most 2x12s boomy...

The RS212 has a lovely thick low mid kick....

RS210 is sweeter and lets you cut through a little.

Sounds like it will be the right combo then to balance the lows out with the 10s to slice through.

The RS212 is not at all boomy... I've used 3 of them together and I have no issue with 'boom'.

I used the RS210 on occasion, alone, and found its sound to be quite lacking in lows and volume (compared to the RS212). It does add a tiny bit of punch in the RS210 RS212 combo, but I tend to just stick with nothing but RS212's and take enough for the requirements of the gig (usually 1-2).

I have yet to try 2 x RS210's, though I can't imagine I'd like 2 of those more than 1 or 2 RS212's...

PS I forgot to mention that everyone who has an opinion on (or owns) an RS210, will disagree with me. But here is my story: when I don't have the amp above half on the master volume and can play a gig with a single RS212, but the same gig 2 months later on the RS210 requires almost 3/4 with about 3 extra clicks of lows to get anything close to the same volume and fullness, its hard to see it their way And the sound didn't carry nearly as nice on the RS210, sounded thin and incomplete, compared to the RS212.

I would also argue that 'boomy' is a vaguish term that means different things to different people based on their views of what is or is not good tone. I've got 3xRS212s and have been happy with them. I don't have an RS210 to compare them to, though. FWIW, I've always preferred really strong low-end. But my idea of a nice low-end might be your 'boomy'.

Have you tried to find any shops in your area that carry the TC gear and would let you bring your bass in and try the different cabs? That would be the best bet for deciding which is most suitable for your needs.

I really prefer the 2x12...It can stand alone in most situations..
I'll add a second cab when I need it..
Th e 2x10 is very sweet sounding...but lacks the "booty" I need.
I find the 2x12 to be more "flat" sounding in the mids...But that's what I like!
