TC Electronic for $300 something at local GC

Hey Guys,

I was noodling around at Guitar Center last nice I tried out a TC Electronics BG500. I had never seen one before and the guy said they just got it in. It was listed for around $370, which I thought was insanely low. Looking on the GC website these things look like they go in the $600s. I'm 99% sure it was new. Does this sound like some sort of pricing error to you?

Nope, GC is blowing these out. See the Hot Deals thread in the Classifieds section. You may change your mind after reading the reviews.

Also, shopping at GC? Worst place to work ever. Real musicians don't spend their money there or at MusiciansFriend.com

Play all you want; buy somewhere else.

I disagree with the "Real musicians don't spend their money at GC or MF" comment. Intelligent people don't blindly throw their money into the air, hoping it will land on a good deal. Intelligent people shop around. And if that best deal is at GC or MF I'm buying there. Typically, at any BM store, you've got the salesperson's commission to get around. Unless they are having a bad week you probably won't get the best price. That also applies to the mega-online places too. It all comes down to timing. Right product, right time, right retailer and you can score no matter where you are buying from.

Yeah. I was browsing. I don't subscribe to such a hard and fast rule about GC though. Not everyone has as many options around. If GC is the only store in the area, and you want to play something before you buy it, what would you recommend?
