I used the BG250 at the gig that same night and I was impressed! It was punchy as heck and had good power! It sounded better on the gig than at the store for sure. It is a freakin' killer deal for the price in my opinion. I own Ampeg, Markbass, and Eden and can make them all work great me. You can add the BG250 to that list.
Anyway, I had a question for you guys. Since I got a floor model, I didn't get the usb cable. I want to dowload the Spectracomp toneprint to my computer and then install it to the BG250. Anyone know the model number for the usb cable required? Can I get it at Radio Shack? Thanks | It's a standard mini USB cable nothing special should be able to get it at Radio Shack or any electronics store.

That'll be pretty important, since I play upright often enough to need the amp to sound good with it. I think it'll be ok, the EQ is well-designed and effective, and I have a couple of different gadgets I run the upright through too.

| | | | I was A/Bing the GK 112 combo and the TC BG250 today at SA. A question I haven't seen addressed in this forum is, are you stuck with whatever toneprint you install before you head out to your gig? I don't plan on taking a laptop with me, and even then it would take too long to change tones. Is there a quick way to change - other than using a smart phone? I don't own a smart phone. |

So I went to the local dollar store and was able to purchase a USB to mini USB, six foot cable for $1.99 + tax. Sweet deal. I've loaded the specracomp and I am ready to go.
Sounds even punchier. The comp is all I'll need. What a great little amp this is! Time make some music. Thanks. |

I could easily A/B them.

Need more experimentation as I'm honestly new with compressors. I've always feel that at high levels they take your expression. 'In the middle' give me more roudness on the bottom, constant level on the middles and expression on the highs. Let's say, I feel it's going to give more presence within the band. I mostly play overrided sound.
My last suggestion: try both |

@McGryff, I had the same problem... As I can recall, wait for driver to completely install, update, whatever, and then start the toneprint. As with all the computer devices, if it doesn't succeed first time, restart and retry. "Comp in the middle" should help with muddy lows... | +1. I had an aborted attempt to get the first upload done too. Worked fine the second time around and the Toneprint loads in a matter of seconds. It's really much easier than I thought.
I agree with bozha. The Spectra Comp will add some punch and clean it up some. When I play my PBass I initially set the Low at about +2 and the High at about +3 with the mid paired back to a -2 and Tube Drive and Spectra Comp at 12 o'clock and adjust to the room from there.
The EQ section takes some getting used to since it boosts at one frequency and cuts at another. You'll get used to it after a bit.

Anyway, when I do, I'll definitely get my thoughts down here.

I tried comp in the middle. I liked it at home, but wasn't crazy about the sound in the room...it was good, but not "just right." I felt like it could have sounded better. |

My guess is that they just put it on for in store advertising so that it would get noticed when it was on display. Like with any new product they promoted it like crazy so that label was just to lead potential buyers to it in the store.
I'm glad they went about it that way. It looks classier with just that vertical "tc electronic" tag on it than it would have if they'd also slapped a BG250 tag along the bottom edge where the label was. Less is more.
Although three people have asked so far why I have my amp turned on it's end.
