It very well could have been the room. Ha, I'm actually somewhat adjust-on-the-fly challenged. I can tell you that I think something could have sounded better, but I have some difficulty in telling you exactly how or what I would have done to try to make that happen. I'm a special-needs bassist in that area

I have run Spectracomp. It sounded fine. The last couple of times out, didn't run anything in the TonePrint because I had been playing with effects and forgot to load something useful when I was done. That sounded fine too.

I decided to give comp in the middle a whirl because people were talking about it to remove muddiness. So, what the heck, I tried it.

Generally, the amp sounds fat and punchy to me. It's never been disappointing in any way...whether Spectracomp, comp in the middle, no TonePrint, if that makes sense.

The only time I got a sound that I flat out didn't like was when I was wildly turning the controls, comparing with my RH and Ampeg and dimed the mid. That sounded nasal/honky. Solution: Don't dime the mids.

That all makes sense. I used the "in the middle" at a band rehearsal last night and it was a bit better than no effects, but the practice room has terrible acoustics.. swallows up mids & highs and is extra boomy, so I fiddle with controls a lot. I rolled off quite a bit of bass for that room. The settings are much different in my studio room, but that goes to show how much of an impact the acoustics of the room can have. "In the middle" sounds great in my room, but wasn't enough by itself to fight all the boom in the practice space. I'm thinking for that room, I may need to haul out the high-pass filter (I have an FDeck HPF and a Fishman Pro-plat). In general though, a little bit of compression helps to tighten things up a bit, I think.

So last night we had our first rehearsal with the BeeGee250, awesome!, we play in a rather small room and our drummer can get loud, Voice through PA and a 60 Watt Guitar Amp, I had the Amp on 3 1/2 the whole night and that was more than enough, other settings:

Gain@5, Bass@2:00, Middle & Trebble @10;00, Tubedrive @5 and Spectracomp @ 5. Awesome... we played Bad Nation Wide and the last Bass riff sounded clear but still a floor shaking growl.

Toneprint pages misdirected

I just tried to download a toneprint from the TCE website. First, it's been redesigned and the toneprints page is different. Then I tried to download a Comp in the Middle and got redirected to a toneprint offering an Alienmimic guitar toneprint. I tried it with two other browers, same result. Then I tried a different toneprint with ... guess what ... same result.

I sent an email to TCE and will see what happens. Is anybody else having a similar problem. aIt's 12:45 p.m. Dec. 10 here in the Northeast.

The top handle vibrated on mine until I screwed it down tighter. No problems since.

The buttons themselves can move around inside their housings so I can see what you're talking about but I don't notice it with mine.

If you adjust the EQ does it still happen. They may be reacting to a certain frequency. With the amp that loud it's funny you'd even notice it. I'll play around a little with mine and see if I can produce the same thing you're getting.

I get the same thing on the website...it does look nice though.

If you're on Mac, I can upload the files you're looking for, if that'd help while you're waiting for tce to update the links.

Edit - here: Download

Thanks but I'm on PC. Got reply from tech support:

As you know we have recently changed our web page and are experiencing a few issues. Our developers are looking into this, I hope everything weill be fixed soon.

Well, I picked my new BG250 up at GC on Friday and took it home..I guess i just couldnt resist a 15% off plus the free pedal.

One of the leds for the tuner is dead (probably assembled backwards) so will be back to GC tomorrow to get them to order a replacement...

So far, tonally i am impressed.. I like the tubedrive at modest amounts (3-4) but have not played too much with the TP function except to check that it works with my android phone..

I seem to hear a fair amount of hiss with mid/high gain or volume..normal?

Yes. You'll begin to hear some noise at higher settings (at 7 and above) on the master but it's not really noticeable unless you practically have your ear up to it or the room is deathly silent. It's inaudible on stage and you wont hear it through a PA.

TCE says some is fan noise and the rest just inherent in the design. Some have reported that it's more noticeable to them than others. I usually here it more as a lower pitched roar like from a seashell when you hold one up to your ear. It's not a higher pitched hiss like you'd hear from a maxed out tweeter.

Well I bought a second BG250 unit. I couldn't pass it up. I got it for $298 from Guitar Center and it's being sent to my home in New York state. Guitar Center had it on sale for $324 plus they honored that 15 percent discount. I do have to pay New York state sales tax but for the rest of you it will be cheaper because New York's is among the highest in the nation.

Now I will be selling my GK Backline rig definitely. Somebody is going to get a good deal, too.

That leads to my question. How is the best way to join the two BG250s .. and the cheapest to the point where it is still usable for gigs? I was planning to use my ancient DigiTech BP8 floor effects unit but I'm having issues with it.

I have a gig Dec. 22 and I should get it a few days before then.

Thanks for any advice, folks.

You can run a line from an A/B/Y box separately to each amp or use the direct out on amp one into the input of amp two and slave them that way. A couple of players have suggested running into a DI box from the direct to boost the line level before the input into amp two. Either way should work for you but as for which is the cheapest way to go I can't say.

The BG250 does not have a direct out, only the XLR out. I'm told it CAN be done by running the XLR with a 1/4-inch adapter or plug into the input of the second BG250 but that it could fry the second amp, so I'm hesitant to do that route.

Tech support said I could definitely use the Corona Chorus unit I will be getting, but first I have to wait until I get the BG250 then send out the rebate form and then wait up to 10 weeks, so I am trying to find something I can use in the interim that is both servicable and fairly cheap because I won't need it after I get the Corona.

Worse comes to worse I do have the cheap regular mono Y plug but I know that will degrade the signal, onlu question is, how much will it impair the sound.

anybody bought anything from loop-master.com? They have a basic Y box, no buffer. with shipping it would be about $26. but since they are all made by hand by one guy (with some help from his family from time to time) it could take 8 to 12 weeks to get it.

My second BG-250 arrived today along with a Morley ABY I purchased used through GC for $30. I'll be trying them out on Thursday. They've got another available for the same price...
