Thanks
The only way I know to run other cabs is out of the xlr into a DI and into a powered cab. From what I understand that could get a little tricky and expsensive. I ended up buying two of the BG's. I would wager that the seperate head and the combo head are pretty identical, tonewise. With that said, different speakers and cabs are likely to have different voices.

Where do you get the foot switch for it? Or what switches can you use? I seen something about a Digitech Switch...

The switch 3 is the TC switch... some folks are using the Digitech FS 300... I'd bet there are others that will work. Congrats on the purchase. I hope you enjoy.

First gig test....amp had plenty of power.

4 piece rock/country band. We had PA support, but with the larger stage, I had the BG250 up to 12:30/1pm (and it was probably a bit loud but no one complained so WIN).

The tuner is good for practice but for quick tuning between songs, it is not the best. I switched between upright (with pickup) and 5 string. Ran it flat except cut mids to 11am with the upright.

Third set I turned the tube drive up from 3 to 5. This made the amp much better. At lower volumes/home practice, I didn't really think the tubedrive improved the tone, but at louder volumes it certainly does add some character.

Here's the interesting thing I have to check out today (running on about 4 hours sleep now, so a bit later after more coffee): I could hear a vibration or buzz by the end of the night on stage. I was kind of in a corner the way the stage sat, so I don't know if it was the amp buzzing or if I was vibrating something on stage (country bar, so there were things on the wall etc). I'll report back today. If not though, the amp passed with flying colors in a loud environment.

It is as loud as my Carvin BR515N combo (Carvin BX500 into 1x15 cab which runs at 8 ohms). The difference is that as a combo the Carvin has a bit more headroom and of course you can add extension cabs. But....it is almost 50% heavier, and the BG250 has some cool features w/tuner, effects etc.

So (fingers crossed it wasn't my amp buzzing).

How does Toneprint work exactly? I dont have the Amp Yet(On order) but I just D/L the TonePrint App.. Now the thing is all I have is a Kindle Fire but I have it rooted so I can buy and run Android apps. App comes up and looks to be working but when I hit the Beem, it pops up a message saying "Beaming is Temporally unavailable while D/L new TonePrint updates"... Is that maybe because I dont actually have the Amp yet and the Amp has to be hooked up for the Beam to even begin to work(Note I was seeing if the Beam would start and then give e some kind of error.. Which maybe this message I get is it?)

It dont use Bluetooth to beam correct? As my Fire dont have Blue tooth.. From what I understand it beams it actually using sound through your Guitar pickups and into the Amp..

Also is there any other way to change TonPrints without using a App?

Thanks!

Thanks.. Nice write up... So I take it that it is NOT using Bluetooth.. So that is good..

Also nice On-Line magazine I never heard of before.. Is there an issue that does a full review of the BG250?

I'm sure Tom has you covered but just in case....

The app beams sound out of the speaker of the phone, I'm uncertain if tablets or e book devices will work, and into your pups. It edits the toneprint that is stored in your amp. Also, you can connect a computer to your amp via mini usb and change the toneprint using the options available on the TC website. I've used both with success. I usually give the tip of running one of the Spectracomp prints and the Tubetone together. It seems to add warmth and volume to the sound.

Thanks, I'm glad that you found that useful! FWIW, Bass Gear Magazine is available for free as a digital flipbook online, and also for free as an app for Apple, Android, or Kindle. But we are also a print magazine (distributed by Hal Leonard), which his page for page identical to the digital.

We have not reviewed the BG250, and have no immediate plans to do so. I've heard it several times, though, and it's a nice sounding combo, for sure. We did review the BG500-15 combo, which is now discontinued.

I got a chance to try my combo to see if the buzzing is recreated and it definitely is. It is the amp itself vibrating on a G or Especially a D.

Has anyone had this issue and did you just tighten the amp from the back? I really hate buzzing (that is why I get away from combos), so if it is not a normal fix, back it goes.

I personally haven't had this issue but in the thread have read of it. Others just tightened some screws and it was fixed.

Thanks, I try that. I didn't notice a buzz when I cranked it upon receiving it and the the buzz seemed to develop and get worse as the night went on. My upright can do a number on amps since without a HPF, the instrument pushes some serious lows.

Just down loaded the Bass Guitar Magazine to my Nexus 7 and got the Talkbass app. Does the tone print work off a Nexus 7?

yes i did..

in my case it was the amp cage.. tightening the screws was pointless as the sheet metal was itself vibrating..

in my cas ethe solution was to remove the amp, and line the recess where wood abuts metal with foam tape then co-erce the amp back in and refasten.. buzz=gone

Well, I guess I won't be getting the amp after all. I had ordered a restock and I guess it sold out.
