| | Dr. Hook | | Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania US | | | I bought a BG250 a few weeks ago. I was impressed playing through it at home, but took it to band rehearsal for the first time today. This band is (unfortunately) very loud at practice so I thought this would be a good test. Rock band with two guitars, hard hitting drummer and bass. The BG250 had absolutely no problem. Didn't break a sweat. All the other band members commented on how much they liked the tone, and want me to use it from now on. After todaty, I wouldn't hesitate to use it at any gig, maybe except a really big room or outdoor show with no PA support. |

I'm using a 500 watt amp which is pushing 1 cab 350watts at 8ohms 4x10 so i'm wondering if ill be able to keep up anymore.
I always use PA support so this will basically be a monitor for me.

No problem at all keeping up with guitar, drums, and sax. I barely went over halfway on the master with everything else straight in the middle. I even had to back off a bit. Deep and clear using the P pup on my jaguar bass.
One thing I've noticed is "the beast" tone print is very sensitive to it's level knob. Sort of like the fuzz ramps up in stages, as opposed to a smooth gradation. I may end up sticking with the stompbox for that effect and load in a vibrato of some kind. |

I keep tellin' folks that this thing doesn't sound like 250 watts.

If so, you couldn't do it with the Switch 3 without standing by the amp to see the tuner... If that's not it, the Switch 3 allows for mute to tune silently. You may want to email TC.

I don't want to be running back to the amp all the time either(not that I play gigs that put me very far from my amp these days...), and the clip-ons are probably just as effective as most tuner pedals, and it's one less thing in your signal chain.

Sun 1pm - 7pm (EST) | How much longer is that good for? I went to my local GC to try it out and their floor model wouldn't work. Had a solid clip light and a solid E and A.
Kind of scared me ... put me back into "lurking mode" from "Buying mode"

Kind of scared me ... put me back into "lurking mode" from "Buying mode" | I wouldn't regard a floor model as an exemplar of product quality. It's often abused, especially at a joint like GC. A new-in-box amp should treat you well!

I cannot subscribe to an "abuse" theory when everything else works..except the TC units.
Given i am on my second one (which itself is faulty), I certainly have zero expectations of a long and healthy life from this thing..and frankly if i could get my money back i would be long gone. Quote:

That's too bad. I got a bad one myself. My gut feeling was how am I going to be able to trust a replacement?
In my case, so far, I'm glad I decided on a replacement instead of a refund.
I haven't seen a hint of trouble from it...but you never do until you do
Given my own experience, I wouldn't be the one to try to push anyone else's decision. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
