I asked this question elsewhere and thought I might ask it here. Has anyone compared the sound of the BH 250 with 2 10" speakers to the BG 250 with the 15" speaker? I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these but have only heard the BG 250. I don't gig anymore and the amp will be used mostly for playing for my enjoyment and a little jamming from time to time. Any thoughts? Opinions?

BG250

I had the BG250 for about 2 weeks. I did a review on pg 30 of this thread. TC Electronic BG250 Club

I'd probably do a Bh250 and a more modern voiced cab to suit my needs but everybody is different.

Have any owners tried to upload Toneprints through USB to BH250?

I have ordered one, and thought I would prepare by having the software ready, but I haven't found an application (for PC) to use for managing Toneprints for BH250.

I think I read you just plug it in and the screen pops up automatically. I hope.....

No. It is like updating a cell phone, at least for the BG250 combo. You download the TonePrint file and double click to update. When I reviewed the combo one of my only complaints was that the PC interface isn't like Line6, and it needs to be. It is easier to use the Beam function from a smartphone. There isn't a really a central software to easily switch between the different Toneprints. You just click and file and wait.

Has anyone returned your BH250 yet? what exactly would happen when it breaks down?

I don't know what happens when it fails, but mine was checked in 20 minutes in authorized service center, in front of me.

My BH250 was serviced under the recall. My understanding is that there are some mounting parts internally that would possibly come loose due to vibration.

The warranty service was to secure those parts so they can't get loose and short any components. The authorized service was done for me very quickly and very satisfactory.

I have no complaints with the amp. I run it through a Epifani PS 112. I do not play in a band, just (re)starting to learn bass guitar. It makes the windows rattle, for sure, and has a nice clean tone throughout the range of my four-string.

I did detune to a B on the E string to see if it plays or farts... and it plays. The amp has the ability to tune the B with the built-in tuner. Maybe I'll have to worry about the B in the future. Right now four strings is enough to worry about.

Ditto. What is it about those things? Pretty irresistible.

Even as a backup head/practice amp, it seems cost-effective and compact. May plug in some headphones and keep it in the bedroom so I can get a few minutes in without shaking the rafters.

I sent the serial number (12406563) to Thomann and they told me to send the amp back. I also contacted the service center in Helsinki (Soundtools Oy) and they told me that they can't check the serial numbers and that I don't have to get the amp checked out unless it has a problem.

I suppose I'll have to send it back to Thomann in Germany. I originally bought a GK MB200 from them but had to send it back because it was faulty and when I tried to order a new one they were out of stock. I ordered a BH250 instead.

Fortunately I found a second-hand Ibanez Promethean to use until I finally get a usable amp from Thomann sometime in the future.

EDIT: I just heard back from TC Electronics. Seems like this amp is a new unit not affected by the recall.

Arrived! Good deal with MF coupon, purchased right before my self-imposed GAS hiatus.

Solid, compact and seems well made. Transient white noise when you power up. I am using it as a bedroom headphone amp for now. The iPod input works great. The head will also deliver balanced line out to my adjacent Pro Tools rig. I downloaded the Tone Print app and put the Tube Drive tone on the amp, pretty cool! Sounds convincingly tubey through my Sony cans. One complaint, the manual is skimpy. Overall, good stuff!

Got my BH250 today with a Kustom Deep End 210H cabinet. It is 8 ohm, and another cab, a Deep End 115H, is on its way (a bit delayed in transport).
But even with only an 8 ohm 210 cabinet, it really sounds impressive. It was a bit difficult to get the Toneprints to register, but I think I have found the way to hold the phone for it to register. Settled for the TubeDrive print, which is subtle, but nice. I tried a couple of others as well, and I must say that I think they are high quality.

It would have been nice to be able to store several Toneprints with easy access buttons. Beaming with the phone is OK, but is not compatible with a live situation. I guess I'll have to stick with my pedal board for now. I am really wondering if I should get the 3 button pedal, though. Having that extra Toneprint and switchable toneprint on/off seems like a handy option.

Anyway, I think it sounds great. Just what I was looking for. :-)

Mine arrived today, but I forgot to bring cables home with me from the studio. Guess I'll just have to stare at it for awhile....

Now, I am not very experienced with different bass amps, but have extensive experience from high end hifi and home theater sound systems.

I am really impressed by the power, dynamics and articulation of this little amp. I think I'm a bit in love with this thing.

True that. With the Tone Print off, this amp is clean as can be. Through headphones I can hear all my technical shortcomings very well!
