TC Electronic Classic 450 - which cab(s) match well?

Sign in to disble this ad
Had another failed experiment this past weekend on a rehearsal in my search for a light-ish cab to match up with my TCE Classic 450. Had the opportunity to demo a Traynor TC115Neo, and it was "meh".

I've read several threads where it's mentioned that the RH450, which I presume is voiced similarly to the Classic, is mid-bumped, and this doesn't work so well with certain cabs ... i.e., a Berg HT112ER (which I'd previously had on my list).

My preferences are something stackable/versatile (for different volume needs) & light (45-ish lbs or less, each), maybe a 2x112 or 2x210 setup. I play a P bass, with a Lakland 44-02 also on the way. Rock/blues in the band; whatever else floats my boat in my spare time. Fingerstyle. No slap.

Since the TCE is mid-bumped, would something that's mid-scooped (Ag GS112) be a good match? What are some cab suggestions that I should consider? How 'bout the TCE RS210? I'd like to come up with a short list of likely candidates that "should" work (instead of a random search), and then narrow it down from there.

I really like Colin Edwin's tone (Porcupine Tree), and I believe he's been using an EBS rig for quite some time. But a good part of that could also be Edwin himself &/or his Wal basses.
