Looks like both are positive and you TBers have given me an educational course in Amp specs. I just wish there is a place for me to test them on the spot so i guess i'll order one...see how I like it.....send it back....order the other amp....see how i like it.....then decide on the two. Can't think of another option. Does anyone know of a music store in the Philadelphia area that have these two amps on display so I can physically check them out? I'd hate to do the order thing.

Auditioned these both through a Bergantino HD410 - very flat and transparent cab.

I too find the RH750 to have a slightly "compressed" or "tight" sound. Very mid present/punchy. I LOVE that. Dialing in some TubeTone enhances that all the more so... (which I do about 6 clicks in). In a mix, mids cut through... having ultra deep frequencies in the kick-drum area have no appeal to me. The RH750 is a low mid kick machine.

EDIT: - I also tried to dial in low mids, mid mids, etc... to fill in the drop off in fullness from the D & G string... no matter what I did, the E & A string sounded much more full. The Streamliner is well reported on by many here to have uneven string to string output.

Order both at the same time... (if you can), and do an A/B comparison. Thats the best way to do it... audition them at in a controlled environment.

Growl - As also a DJ, I know that term "low mid kick". Need an example of what "bright" means. Definitely need that sound though...low mid kick. I just gotta find a store that has a display...need to hear it in person.

I would call a few local Guitar Centers in your area... they may have the RH450 or RH750. If not, musiciansfriend.com is a great place and easy on returns (just don't abuse the gear)... keep it in "as new" condition.

But yeah man, the RH450/750 is a super "kicky" sounding head in the low mids, especially with the Compressor and Tubetone engaged about 5-6 clicks in.

Regarding "bright" - what amp are you practicing on right now?

Understood. Try out the RH750 & RS210 first. I honestly doubt you'll even care to return it and try the Genz Benz. The RS210 cab is also amazing... the best 2x10 cab I've ever played through.

At the risk of sounding like a homer or chearleader - honestly, the TC stuff is the best gear I've ever played.

A little 35 watt ampeg combo. It was just something to use so I could practice until I saved up for a good amp.

I was considering that cabinet or the markbass 2x10 cabinet. I saw an rs410 on sale around here for $375. But I'm focused on the amp first. My father in law owns a Genz Benz Streamliner. Gonna try to make time to get up there and test it and i'll just order the RH450/RH750 to test that. Boom....plan in the making. The comments on here really help...but you guys sound like Rocket Scientist to me with all the tech info you know with the bass, amp, and strings. It let's me know there is a whole lot more I need to learn before i can really call myself a 'bassists'.

Ok, turn up the treble knob. That is also considered your "bright" knob.

Turn it up / down.... that is "brightness".

Hang here long enough and chat with players… you learn a lot (gear / tech stuff).

Growl - Thanks. And thanks to everyone who commented. I've got a lot to learn but I'm on it.

If you want to drive to the Baltimore area, I can set up an A/B.

I'd be curious myself. I meant to do a little of that at the GTG we had here, but I didn't get around to it.

Nice...I'll send you a personal message. I just want to hear them in person so I can decide. Hearing it on youtube, i know that isn't the true sound coming from my little laptop speaker.

Re : Quality. Both the 750 and Streamliner are high quality.

That is right around the kick in level , would you say ? With these "flat" settings it's darn near perfect .From there you can dig in and add a little color ( just like a tube amp) and a gentle comp holds onto it nicely . I agree I love this amp !

Hey Aasti3k and Dr. Pepper, I'm in Catonsville (about 15 minutes from the good doctor) and would be glad to help with this demo project. I have an RH450, a BG250 combo and some cabinets (Bag End, EA) that we could demo, if you don't mind mine inviting myself to the party. Hell, I've got a bar in the basement, we could do it at my place as well. :-)

Sure, Adrian. I know a couple of Streamliner 900 owners who are nearby. I've got a message in to Sharknose79 (Dave) to see if he's interested.

I'm sorry, I don't recall if you came to the mini-GTG this summer, but I have a warehouse space that works well for making some noise on weekends. But again, you're welcome to join in, and we can work out the location once we have a Streamliner nailed down.

Edit - Dave is in, but he's not available the next couple of weekends, so tentatively 12/1 or 12/8.
