TC RH750 Recording Direct to Computer ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

Does anyone know if you can go direct from the RH750 from the Digital output on the back of the amp into a USB of a Computer?

Do I still need an interface?

Thanking you all in advance.

Yes, you still need an interface. The digital out is an AES/EBU interface, which can't be plugged straight into a USB port. Most of the interfaces out there with digital I/O support SPDIF, and you *should* be able to plug the 750's AES/EBU port into one of those inputs--read the manual on it, they have a sentence in there on doing that.

Alternatively, use the analog preamp out port or the DI output on the back. I've recorded straight into the mic/line input on my computer and it sounds surprisingly good.

Bizarre choice to include AES/EBU instead of USB. I "get" why they did it but if you are in the kind of studio equipped to deal with AES/EBU I imagine you would likely go DI out anyway - or use a plethora of other tasty DI options. USB on the other hand would open up a home digital recording option to every Jack and their dog who owns a PC. A no brainer decision there IMO.

Has anyone out there actually used their digital output? I'd love to hear.

What importance/level of seriousness is the recording you're wanting to do?
