TC RS212 vs GB NeoX-212T. About the same?

Sign in to disble this ad
Did a search, didn't see a direct comparison. I used a NeoX-212 for a few years, was by far my favorite single-cabinet ever. I am thinking of going TC for awhile, and wouldn't mind using a RS212 for practices, and maybe another or a RS210 for actual gigs.

I know the NeoX can handle things solo, but can the RS?

the tc cab is smaller than the neox 212t, and honestly, they took the same box they use for the rs210 and put 12"s in it, so i wouldn't expect nearly the same performance out of it as the neox. i'll add that i have direct experience with neither , but you kind of get a feel for stuff like that after you learn what to look for.

I don't think that is correct, I believe the 212 box is a good deal deeper than the RS210.

Right.

It would be easy enough to check, but instead of doing that, I'll just throw a number out and say it's about 6" deeper.

They are precisely the same width and height though.

i'd still rather have the neox. genz benz is a great company run by good guys.

Much deeper. Almost same weight as the Neo x 212T, except it's ceramic. How odd!

Thanks. I'm ending up with a RS112 in the deal I'm making, and don't really want it. I'm used to using a 212 single cabinet, specifically the NeoX212 and now the Uber 212. Both are perfect output wise...just prefer the skinnier format, and used NeoX's are hard to come by when you are in a hurry!

Boy, if one RS212 could cut it for gigs, I'd be happy. Maybe I'll keep the RS112 and stick it under the 212 for a bit of extra height and output.

I guess there's only one way to find out. Get a RS212 and try it out.

I use a single RS212 for group practice and things frequently get louder than need be. IMO the RS212 as a standalone is fine next to a moderately heavy drummer.

Some like the vertical RS210/RS212 as a gig rig, some don't...feeling that the 212 overtakes the 210 out front, while the character of the 210 is all you hear on stage.

What kind of gigs?

I know there's at least one poster who uses an RS112/RS212 stack and has commented ("sparks55"(?) - check the TC thread).

I personally think the RS212 will easily handle a moderate volume gig. No probs.

The 212 has more meat.
The 210 has more punch and clarity to it's personality IMHO.

Either are great alone. Fine together. Personaly I was very fond of a rs210/rs112 combination live. Currently I'm just using a single rs210.

IMHO... the rs212 is heavy enough that if I needed one again I'd likely go with a Berg AE410 or some other light weight 410 for gigs needing more overall speaker cone coverage.

A single rs210 isn't going to give a huge low end gut wrenching onstage experience, but they perform VERY well and provide a very good lowmid punchy tone. If you've listened to Kjung's youtube video's with his jazz basses that is a very good example of rs210 type tone. The rs212 is similar just wider with more meat to it.

As far as gigs go, just your typical 5 piece classic rock type stuff. Loud drummer, loud keyboard player, loud guitarist. And me, with earplugs in and a lightweight rig trying to be happy somewhere in there.

I did a hundred gigs with nothing but a NeoX-212 and an early MB2-500 head. Outside festivals, indoor clubs, bars, everything. Never needed more.

But from my own testing, that NeoX was a beast. It could put out a killer Low B if it needed to without a sweat. It was my ultimate 1 cabinet setup.

I "retired" and sold everything since I needed the money. Nothing new here.

But now that I'm looking to groove again, I thought I'd give the TC stuff a try since I love the form factor and convenience of the tuner and presets.

The little RS112 is a very cool cabinet. So small and light and dare I say, cute.

I'll probably start with a RS212 on top of the 112 and see how that goes...then I can always sell the 112 and get a 210 or 212 and be done.
