TC Stacatto for the 'ultimate' Ampeg tone?

One of the few combinations that really made me grin was a Tech21 VTBass into a TC Electronic Staccato combo amp.

Everything was just 'on' for me whenI tried that at a Steve's Music in Ottawa a long while back and I'm curious if there are any other amps that compare to the Staccato.

It got me the 'Ampeg' tone I wanted that I could never get with the real thing.

Being able to opt OUT of that magic is a nice touch. Especially when that clean, tight, responsive tone is on hand.

What gets you where you like to be?

Jule Amps "Monique" into a Crest CA9

(years ago my response would have been Ampeg SVT but my 56 year old body just won't lift 85 pounds any more)

Mesa Bass 400, input 2 with the bass and treble shift engaged, and a pretty healthy dose of the bass knob. Net exactly like a real SVT, but close enough for me.

On a more serious note, I'm happy with my Ampeg.
