TE AH350X - can anyone answer?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello. I've just bagged a late 80's Trace AH350X on 'bay and will collect at the weekend - it looks in A1 condition in the photo's. I know the X means a crossover with a B channel identical to the AH250 model with a full range output at 250W but also a high pass A channel at 150W. Does anyone know whether it's just a passive (high-power) crossover as used in PA cabs which feeds a single output stage to the two speaker sockets or is it a low power crossover immediately after the preamp stage that then feeds two separate 250+150W output stages. Although I've been playing a long time this will be my first Trace so will welcome any comments from experienced owners - hopefully they'll be mostly positive! Thanks.

If the amp has a high channel and a low channel outputs it will have an active crossover.

Thanks Paul - that's what I was hoping.

Got a link to the auction? They changed them about a bit in the late 80's. Later ones had a single power amp and switchable crossover line out.

Does anyone know what Trace's X-Over points are?

I have an '89 AH500X and just use it in Fullrange Mono (or split stereo as a killer power amp, but not for bass things).

Was it designed around the Bright Box as the "high end"?

There's a manual for that one at britishaudioservice.com
