I have not been able to find any comments/posts about clean and warm tones from this preamp. Can it do those tones ? ?

Yes, run the drive and blend low.

Sure, when I had one I had blend at noon, drive around 9 o'clock for EUB, warm as. Now I use BDDI deluxe with another EQ pedal.

I ran my blend knob totally wet and got some great, warm tones from it. I used it in a 6 piece with a keyboardist and a freakin loud drummer, sat very well in the mix

Sorry, I had an RPM...it's a bit darker than the RBI.

Yep. Keep in mind that the Presence control is part of the tube emulation: boosting that will increase OD to a certain extent. But if you're looking for warm tones then you don't want to mess with that anyway.

Oh... it's important to note that, unlike the other EQ controls, the Presence control is boost only: fully counterclockwise is flat, noon is significant treble boost.

Yeah, my presence was fine without any assistance.

No it's okay. Thanks to all who've offered input. I'm becoming familiar with the Tech 21 products. What happened was that I completely mixed up the model - I really meant to ask about the RPM in my original post - I confused the two models. I might better be able to use the RPM because it is darker in tone. Also, I know that I could use the sweepable mids. I need a clean, warm and round tone. You see, I need the Tech 21 product to work for Reggae.

I've owned multiple BDDI's, PBDDI's, an RBI, a VT, and now a PSA-1. All of them are capable of clean and warm. Lots of guys use them for grit and distortion, but their clean capabilities are very good.

Thats NOT its "Wheelhouse" but you can get some decent warm tones. There are other amps that can do that MUCH better but those amps (A Streamliner for example) wont do the clean aggression of the RBI

One amp that can do it all? GenzBenz Shuttlemax 9.2 is the closest I've found.

Keep the RBI, its a great unit man. If you want warmer tones just get another pre thats designed for that & have the best of both worlds at your disposal
