Terror v. MB Fusion 500

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been looking for a new head for awhile and have found two i really like one is the Orange Bass Terror and the other is a GK MB Fusion 500. I was wondering what people had to say about these compared to each other. I have palyed the orange and love it. I havent gotten the chance to play the GK, but i love the small size. They are both 500 watts and have simple controls, but how do they compare?

The GK has motorized control knobs, and while that's really cool, it's also something else that *could* go bad. Either way, I'd pick the Orange, but it's really your ears that need to pick. Enjoy whichever you get.

I played the TT quite a bit before I decided on the Markbass F1. It does sound really good. But I found it to have quite a bit of a ROCK tone, more rock than Markbass for sure, and not as versatile. That beeing said, it was a close 2nd. I'm sure anyone that decides on the Terror will be quite happy, seems super well made too.

I use the GK as my #2 head, and have NEVER had an issue with it. I use it several times a week for rehearsals and smaller gigs and for me it is the only solid state amp I can enjoy playing through.
I use a Morgan MP200 tube head as my #1.

If you are really worried about the motorized controls as "one more thing that can go wrong", I would offer that #1 G-K's customer service is EXEMPLARY. They are a USA company, the Fusion is made in the USA by the way, and they are responsive to emails and telephone calls.
My experience with Orange was quite the polar opposite. I owned an AD200b and while I did love its sound, I sold it entirely because of how they treated me.

The Orange and GK will give you pretty much the exact opposite of each other. The GK is a nice clean amp with alot of sound possibilities. The Orange doesn't offer a lot of versatility and is a pretty rock gritty kind of sound.

Thats why i have my TT and a GK 1001RB. Both are great, but i find them to be exact opposites of each other tonally.

I'm really partial to the terror. It was ear bleedlingly loud through an 8ohm orange 410. It had tone for days and the volume was on 1/2.

The MB-Fusion does not have the motorized knobs that the Fusion 550 has, so the argument that they'll go bad doesn't apply.

The MB-Fusion is also unavailable.

To the OP: Are you thinking of the MB-Fusion or the Fusion 550?
