Testing L-PAD, Crossover and Horn on Schroeder 1215L?

Sign in to disble this ad
My Schroeder 1215L starting buzzing recently (only certain notes at loud volumes), and I noticed the horn didn't seem to be working anymore. I took the cabinet apart and checked the speakers with the press and 9V battery tests, they seem ok.According to my Fluke, the horn tests at 8ohms, so ok there? I contacted Jorg and he suggested I test the L-Pad and crossover. Any suggestions on how to tell if either is blown?

You can't really test crossovers without more specialized equipment. You could just look at the coil to see it isn't burned and check continuity/resistance and compare it with the original part spec if you can even find out what it is. A meter won't tell you anything about a capacitor.

The L-pad should read 8ohms or close to it throughout the range of the dial.
