I play a usa p with an eden 4ohm xlt212 which kicks ass. Sounds pretty dark and low mid focused with my pf500. I get a great useable tone when i play funk and hard rock in my covers bands and wondered if the th 500 would be more of a better match with my cab and bass. |

I've used plenty of cabs with the p and the pf500: eden ex410, ampeg svt420hlf, Henry 8x8, Warwick 211pr0 x2. It's the head ime. It's good but just putting my feelers out there. |

A GB Shuttle 6.2 would give you a lotta tonal options too.

That 212XLT is IMO the best sounding cab that Eden has made (interestingly, IMO again, the 112XLT is among the worst sounding cabs I've ever experience...midrange and nothing else... go figure).
The TH500 is a step up in quality IMO, but is still in that 'chewy midrange/relaxed top end' sort of 'rock' voicing. Not the same as Ampeg, but as I like to say, in the same tone universe. Aguilar moves the 'growl' down into the meat of the bass tone, versus the more upper midrange signature Ampeg thing to my ear.
I've always been impressed with the WT550 and that cab.... punchy, growly, and 'naturally, musically bright' up top. Not sure if I would purchase an Eden head these days (not sure what is going on with service and support, etc.), but it would sound great. Another option is the Genz Benz Shuttle Max 9.2. LOTS of EQ power. Kind of 'tight and bright' out of the box, but a bit of bass boost, and use of the very nice variable hi pass/bass boost filtering, and it will punch and articulate VERY well through that cab. The dual FET/Tube preamp design is very cool also. |

Will always keep the pf500, love its vintage voicing and love how it emulates the vt with the ultras in (amazingly when I ab'd them).
Genz might be my new toy.
What do u think of that 6.0 or 6.2 shuttle as that sort of headroom would be plenty??? |

I've never used a pf500 live or loud before, so can't really compare em, but they're a good strong 600w ime. I play in some loud settings, where an SVT-CL etc thru a 410 cab ain't cutting it, & that tiny Shuttle steps up with ease.
Not even mentioning GB's great customer service

Basically a more even 410XLT (a bit more low end extension, less low mid bump). Same tweeter, same top end. Definitely not a 'dark' cab by any means. |

Very different low end voicing and oomph. The 6.0 was originally voiced for the very small Shuttle cabs. It sounds good, but the 6.2 is fatter/bigger sounding. With that cab, I'd spring for the Max 9.2 myself, but that might be overkill for you. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
