I play in some shady places, and if I'm away from the stage, I'm worried that someone might walk up and grab the head and walk away with it. Is there any mechanism for these really light heads like Shuttle, Streamliner, etc, that will lock onto the bass cab? |

I've done it with a 4x10 and my GK 400rb for a couple years now.
Shoot, a friend of mine has a 4x10, Ampeg B2-re, and a dolly all bungee'd together... works like a charm!

That will at least make them work a little to steal it. Maybe try removing a screw on the head and attaching a cable that way. |

to the OP check out computer websites. I've seen some short lock and cable set ups in mags from time to time . . . |

An example can be found here: Laptop Locks, Laptop Cable Locks, Laptop Computer Locks, Laptop Lockers
I have no affiliation with that company, nor do I endorse them. Just an example.
You could probably get a decent locking mechanism at your local hole in the wall computer shop.
However, the aforementioned bungee idea seems like the way to go.
At the few gigs I play, I usually ask a friend to act as a "roadie" for the night. I give him a free T-Shirt and buy him a beer. Between sets, I ask him to sit on the stage and watch our equipment.
Keep in mind, no lock, bungee cord, or well intentioned friend can stop a guy who really, really, really wants to steal your stuff. It just stops the lazy thieves. The good thing is, most thieves are lazy- if they weren't they would get a job and buy their own stuff. |

He acted as my personal bouncer and roadie.
He kept idiots off the stage and protected my gear, myself and all for nothing more than some free drinks and a night out.

Otherwise look at the locking cables used for securing laptops and other computer hardware.
OR you could play better places!

To all the guys "trying" to be funny. Stick to playing bass. |

There are some plans that let you call and turn it on and pay for it only when you need it. There's also renters insurance and insurance for sole proprietors which in some cases covers traveling with expensive equipment. |

When I used to go setup my big rig at clubs early in the day, I'd use a bike cable that's sheethed in thick plastic with a regular lock. I'd route the cable thru the cab handles then thru a handle of my SKB or Gator racked amps. Install lock to taste.
Now if your talking just tying it down while your already at the gig and need to walk away during breaks: Now, with my LMII or F1 amps on top of my Neox 212T cab, those top handles are great for routing a black rubber style bungy cord thru the handles and over the top of the amp. Guess I need to do this with my new STM-900. But I've not used a strap down lately; giggin nicer clubs finally.
AND since I use a Speakon cable from amp to cab, I feel many rogues and ner' do wells won't know how to unhook this type cable quickly and I keep an eye on my rig during breaks so I think I'd see someone pulling at my amp by then. But hey use what you need to keep your gear yours. |
