Is there consensus on the Eminence B102?

I've heard talk of response 'humps' and some distaste for the wizzie in it - what say those that have given this driver a go?

The main shortcoming is the 3mm xmax, displacement limiting it to about 75 watts.

10lbs per driver is my main objection.

If it were more a mid than woofer is this still an issue? Crossing it at say 250?

The sensitivity is the problem I see with that scenario. That and unknown polar response characteristics..I have no idea how to calculate that on a wizzy. I bet it sounds great though, probably not a big deal.

The sensitivity is the real issue. It'd take about two of them to keep up with a 3015LF and then only barely.

You don't need to cross over from even an 18 below 500Hz, and that being the case a six or eight inch midrange driver will work much better in far less space.

Hi Bill - is there a direct relationship between Xmax and displacement limiting? e.g. would a Kappalite 3012LF with Xmax of 9.1mm be limited to 225 watts?

The relationship between voltage and xmax is linear. Power increases as the product of voltage squared. Therefore doubling xmax increases displacement limited power by a factor of four.

Thanks! I'm guessing this holds for drivers with the same sensitivity. Slowly I'm beginning to understand all those cryptic speaker parameters.
