I think I know the answer already ( ), but I've never creased a cone on one of my own amps.
The speakers in these pics are on a used Eden 410XLT that I'm looking at. The price is all right, but I don't think the cones are...
What say ye, TB?

And, yes, that probably is bird crap on the bottom left cone. Makes me wonder what the liquid on the two left speakers is... |

When will people stop reading the thermal rating?.
Christmass that cab must have been sounding utterly pants while that damage was being done.

Oh, well. I guess it's back to watching the TB Classifieds for a great deal on a 410! |

Ask to pull a driver, take a look inside, knock it around a bit, listen for rattles, and if you can get the total package for less than the $450 (including the reconing kits), I'd say go for it. An Eden cab with (essentially) new drivers is definitely worthwhile.
Also, you can paint the backside of the cones with a thin coat of epoxy or polyester resin, and possibly return the cones to a fair stiffness.
So, basically, creased cones is not good... but, I wouldn't let that be a dealbreaker. Besides, I really don't know any bassists that pay attention to when they run out of xmax or xlim. Plug in, play, shake some booties, and go home with a smile and tinnitus.

That is a good deal, though... |

Usually a crease is very obvious, and that's not the case from what I see. You can tell by running your hand over the cone, if it's a crease you'll be able to feel it. |

I can definitely feel a change in the paper's surface angle. As far as I can tell (and I'm not an expert) the liquid staining is limited to the droplets seen in the pictures. Oh, and the bird poop!
Just for the sake of discussion, if the cones weren't creased, would the bird droppings make this a better cab for metal?

Just for the sake of discussion, if the cones weren't creased, would the bird droppings make this a better cab for metal? | Elimentary my dear Watson the evidence is plain to see, this cabinet was used in some kind of hideous cruel brown note experiment. Obviously (inspects cabinet with large magnifying glass)
the cabinet has been positioned directly under a parrot cage and then plugged into a 60hz mains supply socket.
Although the experiment appears to have been quite successful, I fear that the future performance of the eden cabinet may have been somewhat compromised in this process.
PS Having had some experience in these matters I believe Bat guano is the preferred deposit for most of the metal genre.
