Think I need to buy a new cab?

I'll try to keep this short. My band is playing a show in Florida (I'm from CT) in September. I plan on carrying on my old GK Backline 600 instead of bringing down my Mesa M6 Carbine. However, my cab is an 8x8 and it's really too big to bring, not to mention overkill for the show. My friend lives in Florida, so I'm staying there and can ship anything there. The Mesa is so much louder than my Backline that I've been thinking about getting a smaller cab anyway, just so I don't have to lug around a 100lb 8x8 to a small bar. So my options seem to be:

1. Try to rent a cab in Florida

2. Buy a cab somewhere close by (Craigslist, TB Classified, etc)

3. Buy one online and ship it to him in Florida

Now thing is, I can always just have him try to sell it for me after the show, and either get the money back, or lose only a little. Another option is that if it's a good cab, have him drive it up when he finishes school this winter (or even ship it if it's a REALLY good cab). It doesn't matter either way, I HAVE been thinking about buying a small cab and this seems to be a good time. So...if you were in this situation what would you do? Buy a cheap cab just for this show then get rid of it, or try to find a nicer one and keep it?

Buying on line and having them ship it to Florida sounds like half the battle.

In any case, if your car is too full to carry one there/back, and it’s just full of clothes and lighter items, maybe it would be cheaper to ship most of that stuff, making room for the cab in your car.

I'd rent. If you want another cab anyway, buy it with your ears.
