Thinking about changing amps.

Hello all,

Need to see if this makes sense, I play in a classic rock and new tunes band, stuff like Puddle of Mudd, Rage against, 3 days grace and shinedown to name some, mixed in with some creed/Alter Bridge, VH, Zep, Styx and other rock tunes of the past. I play a Eden WT800 through two Mesa cabs...2x10 and 1x15

Thinking of switching to an Ashdown ABN900 with a 6 10 cab.
Do you find the ashdown amps and cabinets to be good? I have had the Eden/Mesa rig for some time and want to know if this is a good step. Please advise..

Thanks

The older (Made in England) Ashdown amps were very nice. I am not so much a fan of the newer China gear. I bought and ABM EVO III and the second day I had it, it fried on me. It started humming and then pinged and poof poof out goes the lights!

Maybe I got a lemon, maybe not. But of course I could have gotten a B-stock too as I bought it from p-hill on ebay and what joyous experience THAT was... NOT!! BAD seller!! I called him to get an exchange on the head after it blew and all he could say is he doesn't RENT amps! WHAT???

LONGGGG story short... I filed a Paypal claim on him and got my money back.

But I will say if you can get a used England head, you'd be better off. They do have a great amount of bottom end, though the high end lacks a bit as I had to crank the treble just to get a little bit on my old EVO England head.

I like the reliability of the LH1000 Hartke much better and more power to boot!
Good Luck!

The amp you have is better than the one you want, but going from a 210/15 to a 610 will certainly be an upgrade in volume, if not tone. Use your ears before doing anything you may regret.

I tried Ashdown and didn't like them. I would keep the Eden head and get an Eden D410XLT or a D212XLT.

What are you looking to get out of a new head that you don't already get? A new cab too? Try getting a new cab first. I think the 610 would be a huge improvement over the 15 and 210. As for tone, if you want more edge to your sound, there are many overdrive peda out there that would get you close enough.

Good bass tone starts with your hands.
