Thinking of getting a Mesa - M9 or Titan V12

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Mesa for my bigger indoor and outdoor gigs. Kinda torn between the M9 and Titan V12. Actually I'm leaning towards the M9 , but wouldn't mind hearing some more input from Mesa users before I take the plunge. Thanks.

Anyone?

Any Mesa users M9 or V12 users out there? I've read good stuff about the M9 , but haven't heard much on the Titan V12.

Check the megathreads:

Mesa in general, Titan and M9 all have a thread. It's all there.
Happy reading.

as kjung said m9="mesa for those who don't like mesa"
Titan more tubey overdriven and big pro power..

I am "almost on the same boat" ...
I already have a M9, but think that the Titan might provide more of the tonal profile I like. But the M9 is unlike any of my other heads, and the Titan might be somewhat over-lapping with the others. Decisions, decisions ...

Somebody (maybe TomBowlus) reported that the Titan has been discontinued. It is still on the website. When Mesa discontinues a head, they typically do a few additional production runs (I assume to use up the parts on hand, etc.). So, if my info is correct (again, can't quite remember the details), you might want to jump on the Titan pretty quickly if that's the direction you choose (VERY different tone from the modern, brighter, M9).

Hi Ken. I'm in the process of trading my two markbass 4x10 cabinets in for a Bergantino NV412. Just curious which Mesa head you think would match up with that cab better - The M9 or the Titan V12?? As always thanks for your input/advice.

You know, I'm not the guy to ask about that sort of thing, since it is a bit far from my tone goals. However, since I dig the M9 for its modern bite and 'quick' response, it seems the Titan (more tubey and grindy) would match up with the 'logic' of that sort of 'new vintage' (i.e., NV) sealed, relatively old school deal. So, it's a kind of 'do the opposite of what I like' for your tone goals possibly!

I guess I would also suggest to check out the Genz Streamliner when it starts shipping in 6 weeks or so. That head, with the multi-tube class A preamp, and the powerful class D/SMPS power section, might really be the answer to the 'lightweight but vintage' sort of thing. I assume some reviews and clips will start to show up in early February on that amp, if you can wait that long.

Otherwise, I would think the Titan would kill if you are looking for a relatively 'all tube' type vibe from a hybrid sort of amp. Of course, that is a large, three space unit, which might matter or not to you!

I do not own either, but have played both a fair amount. They are both really good amps, but different. Personally, if I were going to go this route I would go with the Titan. I like the more tubey/vintage tone of it. It has a lot of power, and it is hard to go wrong...it is a Boogie.
