Thinking of Upgrading... Again.

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been pretty happy with my SVT 3 Pro since the day I got it, the only thing I thought it lacked was headroom. But today I tryed out a 2 Pro. It completely blew me away, I loved the tone it had before I even started to dial in my settings. So much thicker and fuller than the 3 Pro. I've been pretty much GAS free up untill a couple of weeks ago when I saw the ad for this thing.

But I have some dialemas. Because the 2 Pro is only designed to run a 2 or 4 ohms, before I can run it safely I will need another cab (I'm thinking a 210). Also to justify spending that much on an amp I'll have to sell my 3 Pro which because of my location could be a very hard task. The other thing I will need to do is sell my current 4 space rack and get a bigger one, to allow for the 2 pro and my rack tuner. It's also a pretty heavy amp, especially once its in a 6 U rack with a tuner etc. which will be a pain to move around.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to do here, so I'm turning to TB for some good advice.
Thanks.

The audience doesn't care how heavy your amp is. They don't care what you had to sell to afford it. They only care how awesome you sound.

If you are getting close to buying a 2pro then you are officially moving up into the heavyweight division. I have the SvtCl with 410HL's (2) and an 810E. Its your move ...best of luck

If I was in your situation and I could afford it and I was going to be getting miced at gigs then I'd get the 2 pro otherwise I'd keep the 3-pro and run it at 4ohms.

i think you should stick with what you have. it's a fine amp and there's no reason to spend money on something else.

but seriously, if you do get it, go all out and use an 810 rig. either add a 410he and daisy chain them, or get an 810e. you know in your heart it's the manly thing to do.

Only problem with getting another 410 is having somewhere to store it. I plan to move to a different city later in the year, and I won't be living in a big house anymore.

Im also tossing up the idea of getting a 112 cab instead of a 210. They are generally a little smaller and they pop up used a fair bit.
