Thoughts on the Rig I just ordered??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello! I've used combos for most of my career. However, I just took advantage of MF's tax season sale thing and ordered these;

a GK MB500 head 500W @ 4 ohms, 350W @ 8 ohms,

Gallien-Krueger*MB500 500W Ultra Light Bass Amp Head - Find the largest selection and guaranteed lowest prices at Musician's Friend.

and a GK 410 MBX410 @ 8 ohms

Gallien-Krueger*410MBX 400W 4x10 Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn - Find the largest selection and guaranteed lowest prices at Musician's Friend.

Was this a foolhardy or wise purchase? Do any fellow talkbass gurus have any input?

Thanks!

The GK MB-500 heads IMHO are amazing, (I can't imagine the new MB-800 that's coming out.)
I'm running my MB2-500 head into one or two 8 ohm Avatar Neo 210 cabinets. With two cabs I stack them as a vertical 410.
I'm gigging with a loud, 6 pcs., country/rock group playin' at everything from local animal clubs and pubs to outdoor fair dates. The MB-500 has "always" been more than enough power.
I hope you'll be as happy with your MB-500 as I am with mine.

I actually had that cab provided to me as the backline - definitely loud enough! Good choice. 350 watts from a GK head is always a good thing into that cab. Big improvement over MOST combos out there.
