Lightbulb Tip - improve your Aguilar DB112's for $5.00

Sign in to disble this ad
Tadaa...

The DB112 owners out there know why this is a big deal. The design flaw of these cabs is that on the opposite side of the handle there is no feet. Which really HURTS when you need to put your beautiful tweed or white hot tolex cabs down in the dirt to find your car keys. (Dave B are you out there goddammit??!)

I bought these stoppers at a basic electronics store for about $1.50 each. Each one is in place using the existing screws in the existing screw holes so the new feet mod is entirely reversible - no sticky, no nuthin.

^^ Handle on one side, new feet on the other.

NICE! I hated having to set my cab down on rocky asphalt.

Did that to all of my tweed cabs years ago and never thought anything of it. It does work.

I updated my DB112s with the same corners used on the GS series.. The Steel corners on the DB messed up my nice wood floors..
so i added these corners.. Stopped the floors from being messed up and now a pair stacks WAYYYYY easier and looks nicer. in my opinion
here is a pic

Actually I cant wait to get rid of these cabs... They are just not my thing... heading to 10s again

I did the same with my DB210 to allow verical or horizontal placement depending on whether I'm using the cab solo or stacked.

Bump, just 'cause I like staring at those gorgeous cabs (and the bass isn't too homely either!).

My 2x10s are vertically stacked whether i'm using one or two. They just work better that way.

Good idea.

This isn't exactly on topic but, vin*tone, what is it about that jazz bass that makes it stand out like that? It's like there is more depth in the wood or something? I'm thinking it's ash? Either way it's really sexy, my fav, tobacco burst with tort PG.

Great idea. I have cases for them. Does the new and very good idea regarding the feet interfere at all. That is if you have cases for them. I love these cabs and i bought the case for them almost immediately.

Hey. I'm not sure - I don't have covers so can't answer that one. If they're tight then you might be lucky. As a couple of other people have pointed out, another big benefit is being able to stack them vertically - particularly useful when you have a micro sized head like the WA.

@Jazzmonkey - It's a pretty crappy photo so I had to boost the contrast - that might have brought the grain out a bit. She's actually a standard AV Sunburst. Pretty sure it's alder. Can't rave enough about that bass. Just sexy!

As far as I can tell what you are asking - if it's about the why of the handles at the sides it's because of material stiffness. Screws/holes/whatever are 'weak spots' in the wooden panels the cabs are made of, and I guess the sides are less important than the top panel. The back is 'screwed' anyway because of the panel with the jacks and the other electronics.
