tips for a new bass amp
hi im a 17 year old bass player from sweden and its time for a new amp. im playing in a mainstream rock band my bass tone sounds almost like the same tone joe from rise against is using. ive been thinking about the orange bass terror 500 http://www.thomann.de/se/orange_bass...500_bundle.htm with this cab http://www.thomann.de/se/orange_obc410.htm
do you think this combo will fit my style? or do you guys recomend any other amp? the most important is that it has a 3 band eq. greatings from sweden (sorry for bad english) =)
I'm not really sure of the tone that Joe (from RIse Against) has, but this amp (and nearly all others) can help you get that tone. An amp is just one aspect of getting a certain sound from your rig (strings, bass, cabinet structure - including size - speakers, etc). Orange has an excellent reputation. Just to point out the obvious though - don't try to achieve a "tone" that is off of a CD recording. That will very likely be processed, cleaned up, etc because it is ran thru a mixing board. A live sound is more achievable even though that has its obstacles as well (Size of venue alone messes with tone).
Hi Daniel, your english is excellent.
I wonder if you are too concerned about a specific tone. I would be more concerned about having enough clean volume. Have you compared the Orange 410 rig to other rigs?
You can always use effects to get very close the the tone you seek, but nothing can magically make your speaker cabinet(s) handle more power.
