Tired of Waiting on MB500

Sign in to disble this ad
I ordered and paid for this head from GC on the 14th and was told it would ship on the 17th. So it's almost 10 days late, and whenever I try to get a ship date, they really can't tell me. I'm thinking of changing my order to another Crown XLS1500 Drivercore, and an Ebtech line level changer to boost my signal to the Crown (it needs it with this pre-that's already a fact), and using my spare pre (Presonus Studio Channel). Cost is about the same with GC's current coupon, but I have only a couple of days to decide. Whats the GK going to do for me over the rack unit besides the obvious size and weight convenience? The Crown too, is about as light as they come...Any suggestions...wait it out, or go more separates?

Wow, bummer. Only you can decide if the size/weight thing is worth the wait.

All I can say is I like mine a lot. If you’ve got other things to play through, maybe being patient is the way to go.

Sort of strange that GC lists lead time as 2-4 weeks but MF says availability in 2 days.

I've got 2 other amps, so not a problem. If I get the GK, my Presonus, tuner, and power conditioner are all going unused, and I guess that comes into play in my mind. I already have a Crown XLS1500 in my other rack. Redundant to get another, but not if you don't want to keep swapping around. I may have been a littly hasty ordering the GK. Ugh.

MF had it coming in march but changed it to 2/28 in the last day or two which could be a good sign - or could mean nothing

Cancel the order and get one from RMCaudio. Probably be cheaper anyway.

GK is waiting on them right now , so I don't think you will be able to get it anywhere else quicker , and it is worth the wait !!!!!!! And 2/28 sounds about right as far as when they will have it .

It's out of stock at RMC, too.

But the line forms to the rear. They are supposedly shipping in order of date purchased.

Bummer...I hate to hear this.
A couple of weeks ago when I was at the Guitar Center I do most of my business with they had 3 or 4 MB-500 heads out on the showroom floor.
Dropped in the other day and they were all sold.
I really like the MB2-500 I've got...so I'd have to say wait on it, or, order the new GK MB-800 that's due to be released soon!

Low price doesn't mean anything unless you actually get/have the amp

I wanted to get the MB500 as well so I called MF today and they said that they only have 2 units thats arriving on the 28th which is not enough to fill the current 19 backorders. They will have another shipment of 20 units on the 7th of march so I placed a order for me one which only leaves 1 left. Whats the deal with this amp?

MB-500 = Great sound, lots of power, small, light, very reasonably priced, = , very popular amp, = , lots of sales, = , shortage of them in the stores.
The G.C. that I frequent told me they were also trying to get in some MB-200 heads, no luck, all of them are already spoken for!
I predict the new MB-800 will be even more popular than the 500 if it's as reasonably priced as the 500 is.

I am at our factory in China right now, we just finished a run and I am shipping it by air on Monday. They should be in stock by the end of the week at the factory in Stockton.

That puts it at least another 10-12 days out for me - at best. I'm a little nervous that they might be being rushed out to market, as fast as they can.
What an eye opener too. I thought they were made in the USA. I just looked at my MB115. Yes, designed in USA. Not manufactured. Doesn't mean it's automatically bad, but it's funny how modern Acoustic amps are beraded for their Chinese manufacture. I digress for sure...
