Does anyone know of anyone building the EV TL606 1x15 cab these days?
I'm also wondering if there's anyone building a lighter version of it? |

Plans I've seen still call for 3/4" plywood and stickframe bracing, kind of like building a doghouse. One could easily keep the internal dimensions the same and/or internal volume/tuning the same and refigure for 1/2" braced material. ie: the external dimensions may change by 1"/4 or 1/2" but the box would still be the same on the inside, producing the same result. |

1/2" with 3015s would drop some weight...
i know people have used the 3015 and black widows... but can anyone recommend a 4ohm driver thats easier to come by that would work? |

I'd look at 15's that are workable in smaller spaces. The Legend15 comes to mind although it's heavy. The basslite15 gets lower in the same size box than a deltaliteII15 does as do all basslite models compared to deltalite models. The BW-1505-8DT follows the same rules as any other speaker in that a smaller box means less bass but it's also pretty forgiving, ie: shrinking a box a little bit doesn't suck all the bass away. If in doubt, get a 15L and a low wattage amp. (They have the tone but they don't have the excursion to handle any appreciable power, 2 of them might if you consider appreciable power to be a couple hundred watts at best.) |

I'm sure it's technicaly wrong but it sounds very good and plays loud
BTW, oak plywood looks good but is heavy; mine weighs about 55 lbs loaded |

3015 HO no tweet/mid,weight 40lbs,this works
very well for my blues/country gigs,as rpsands
states this 3/4 poplar is as light as 1/2" ply, overall

I've built a pair, loaded with the 3015. Each weighs about 45 lb.
I made the ports larger by 1".
Couldn't be happier. Built the pair for under $400 with the drivers, hardware, everything.
There are a bunch of TL-606 threads.
IMHO its a perfect first build for someone with very basic tools.

The Aguilat DB115 cab is of close dimensions to the Orange OBC115, does that make the Aguilar DB115 a TL606 cab too? If not, why is it not? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
