Tonal differences between Markbass F1/F500 and Genz-Benz Shuttle Max 6.0 FET channel

All,

I'm really interested in knowing the tonal differences between the FET channel of the GB SM 6.0 and the MB. Can anyone do a quick compare/contrast? FWIW, the cab is the Berg AE212.

I'm thinking about adding the GB SM 6.0 (or 9.0!) but like the punch and clarity of the MB F500. If the FET channel of the GB SM is in the same tone universe as the F500, then I can use one as a back-up to the other and the SM's tube channel would then be a bonus for those songs needing more grit/grind.

Thanks.

PM Joeykun if he doesn't show up here. He is a former F1/F500 user (who likes that head a lot) and now uses a Genz Max 12.

I never A/B'd them in the same room, but my feeling is that the voicing is quite close... maybe a bit more sparkle up top and a touch less absolute low end with the Genz.

I like the F1/F500 quite a bit better than the regular Shuttle heads, but I could be VERY happy with the FET channel on the Max heads... very nice sounding, and similar features as the F500 (i.e., two bands of semi-parametric mids, mute switch, full featured DI, variable voicing filters). The advantage of the F500 is its very small size. The advantage of the Max heads is the extra tube channel that comes with the bigger box, and the ability to scale up in power and cab options with the 6,12, and 9 versions.

All nice stuff. I would assume the Max 9 (soon to be released) would be quite amazing into a large, high quality 4ohm cab.
