Tone Hunting

Hey

Excuse me if this is already a thread somewhere else, but alas, I couldn't find it... I mean, I found another one that was similar, and answered a few of my questions, but didn't want to hijack the thread.

I was wondering if you could give me some advice when it comes to tone hunting. Do you like to start with everything flat (on the amp and the bass) and just adjust as you need from there on out? Or do you cut everything and boost what you think you need?

I've been playing for a few years now, but never really thought much about tone. But I figure it would be a good thing to at least have an idea of what I like.

PS
The amp I'm using doesn't have a sweepable EQ, its just got the dials with Low Low-Mid High-Mid and High

Thanks!

Yes, start flat, then cut and boost as needed.
