Can't seem to find too many reviews on these cabs. What's the story with the Celestion speakers in these? Can't find a model name anywhere. How would you describe the sound?

I suggest you take this to Team Trace Elliot - found on this very forum. There are people there (Tracebassplayer and Downunderwonder especially) who know pretty much all there is to know about TE gear and are always helpful.

Not really sure what year yet...What are the main differences between the old and new 1048s? Style would be with a bit more low end.......

I love these cabs and have had a few. There are many versions of this cabinet out there, with wattages of 200 watts (80s) to 320 watts (mid 90s), with and without the red stripes, with and without horns, all before the Gibson and Peavey years.

These cabinets are deep, punchy, and loud. Very heavy, about 80 lbs. I love their sound. I haven't heard the newer Trace gear, so can't really compare.
