Trace Elliot 715, Extension Cab

Sign in to disble this ad
Any of you TE nerds (glad to know you) have a good rec for an extension cab to run off a Series-6 715 combo? 8 ohms, looking for another 15. 1153?

Thanks!

A matching TE 1x15 is the best option, anything else is a gamble, so try before you buy.

Well here's the latest trial, using what I have handy:

Bag End S15D. Sounds pretty nice so far, but I don't really know how those cabs will interact in different rooms. Gonna take 'er to a gig I guess.

Indeed- I wish I could say I wore it down, but I got it for a very friendly deal locally. I'm understanding this is one of those pieces you just don't kill... we'll find out I guess, 'cause it and an extension cab (and a spare head) are about all I'm going to have for a while!

Neato is a word I haven't used in... dang, years! Ha! Cool, thanks. It is kind of tidy I guess, even with the ratty Tolex.

How many watts is that head? I have a TE RAH130 head and I forget the cab's model number, but is a 15" with two round ports with a 400 watt celestion. Its one of the original TE cabs made in the UK as is the head. I add second cabs for larger shows but for any club with <500 people the 130 watt TE head and single 15" TE cab was more than enough for me to gig with. Larger places I bring a second 15" cab, right now its an acoustic cab that I replaced the 15" for another celestion, this one is 250 watts, still well over the heads rating. Two cabs with the TE can bounce bottles off bar shelves, I've done it with a rather flat EQ.

I believe you- I remember seeing the Mavericks in Miami before they hit it big, and Bobby Reynolds' little 715 combo was huge sounding.

This one's 200w.

Newly received info on this combo: It's a 7215, not a 715. It's 200w and has the ext. speaker jack on the back panel, where the 715 has no extension jack and is 100 or 130w.

Thanks for the neato remarks.

I've been trying to find a combo locally but the only one I've found so far is a BLX80 (I think that was the model) It is 80 watts with a single 10" speaker and only a slot opening in front of it. I'd really like to find at least 200 watts in a combo with a 15".

That BLX might surprise you. Tried it? Trace Elliot didn't make any toys.

It might, but I already have a 130 watt TE head and I am looking for something with a bit more power, not less.

Everyone's looking for more, I think! But it wasn't my first choice either...

Update: My combo (see above) is a 715S- Series-6, 200w, extension-able, DI out. Previously it was a 715, 130w, not extension-able, no DI I don't think.

And one further question... do any of you guys know the dimensions of either the TE 210 cab or the 1153 1x15 cab? Just curious to know if it's a modular arrangement, size-wise, with this 715S combo. Not a real issue, but it would be fun if they could 'lock' together. Though I may just keep the Bag End to use with it, jury's still out.

Nice example of a 715S. Neato, even!

Here's mine:

A little less warn! Built in 1991, I think. You don't see many examples of these around - I don't think they were made for very long.

I have a 715S Combo. Used to run an 8 ohm 4x10 TE with it. Anybody ever use a TE 1153 (1x15) ext cab with this combo? I have a chance to purchase one. Would be my small to medium gig rig. Thanks.

I used a Bag End with it, and later an 1153. Nothing wrong with either at all- as long as it accepts an extension cab... some of the earlier models don't. I'd do it still if I still had mine! I wanted a bigger amp...
