Hello all!
I am recent here and need some expert help please, I start with the above amp- was made in 95, so old- it sounds amazing, I love the typical Trace tone, built like a tank and very heavy- uses a custom Celestion 10 inch driver and a horn tweeter, all via the sm7 pre....very happy with the power from this thing for practice and can see it also in use for small gigs and di out for larger ones, may even throw some money at a 4by 10 cab later?
I have searched the threads and came across one about a noisy fan.
The fan on mine is also the same, I can hear it across a room, having taken it out- on its own its not noisy when running, I do note however that its position in the amp is off centre to some small grills cut out of the metal housing...NOw then- I think this is the problem in that it is not pushing all the air being moved out as maybe it should?
I isolated the fan by placing it on thin rubber and secured it with the stock screws and fittings.
The question is, as the amp alone has sold many and is in essence the same thing- what has been done about the fan noise by some of you?
I may take the fan out of the case and mount outside the grill, so it pulls more than its pushing at the moment- or open up the slits and use a metal mesh to ease flow!
Any advice please guys?
Thanks for taking the time to read and answer.
