Trace Elliot Brightbox clone?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anybody got any facts and figures that i could use to build one of these rare boxes? I heard they dont affect your impedance rating at all.

Shed some light please!

I would add it to 2 x (115@8ohm) setup.

Umm..right. I dont want to make an exact match to sell as genuine or anything.

I just want one but I dont want to pay stupid money for it because it is rare.

Markbass has a similar device.

I used the TE a long long time ago. It didn't do anything you couldn't get with a slight turn of the treble knob.

Someone's bound to come along and tell you how bad the design is acoustically, and how you should just build a f$&*^%& headcase instead...

But it looks cool!

Is it really that bad though? I do hate it when people listen with equations and math, rather than listening with the holes on the side of their head.

they aren't expensive they go for about £130 over here. You really would be better off building the fearful top.

Putting a line of HF drivers horizontally kind've totally defeats the object of having a tweeter box.

Dunno, but buying one at whatever the going rate is sounds like the best way to find out if you like it without taking a big financial risk. A DIY cab will be worth the actual parts costs, tops, in most resale scenarios. The TE will be worth exactly what you paid for it if you've bought smart.

It's been ages since I've actually heard one of those things, so long ago that I could be dreaming that I ever did.
