Trace Elliot died - help!

I have an RAH300-12 which stopped working this morning.

I turned it on and got a loud popping/grinding noise for about two seconds, then nothing. No bang, no smoke or smell.
The line out, DI and fx send still work so presumably it's just the power amp. Has anyone experienced this before?

I took it to my repairman, but he's had a prick of a job fixing TE gear in the past. He said last time he waited 12 months for a volume pot...

When you are using equipment from a manufacturer that's no longer in business, spare parts are always problematic.

Am I remembering correctly, that Peavey bought out Trace Elliott?

Trace Elliot - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeah. That's what I was remembering...

Dunno if that means they'll service TE, but you could look into it...

Here is a place that services TE equipment, might give them a call.

British Audio Service, Inc.

Just got it back from the shop. Soldering, fuses and service: $85!

I had my AH350SM screw up on me awhile back. Repair guy said it was some sort of catastrophic failure in the power amp section that ended up blowing all of my speakers along with it.

Any way, he tried to fix it but could never get the stuff and could never make it work. So after 6 months of that I had him send it to British Audio Sevice. It was back on my doorstep a week and a half later with a brand new power section for around $300 shipping and all.

I can't speak enough for those guys. They fixed my amp fast and did it right. I'll never send my Trace anywhere else.

Definitely would have been on my short list if I lived in the States.
