hi folks,i have a trace elliot ah150 preamp and it sounds perfect but its a bit quiet on some open air gigs and the guys will get ratty if i pinch a channel in our already overworked PA so i want to connect it up to a power amp(QSC).now my question is do i still need to connect speakers to the output jacks or do one of the outputs on the front of the amp cut the output section off automaticaly.i dont want to blow it up as it has a tone like hard black chocolate and i just need it a bit louder.thanks.

No you don't need to connect any speakers. Use the 'preamp out' if it has one into your QSC.

I think you will then have to use the QSC for stage volume as the AH150 master volume will likely be inactive.

EDIT: I've just googled some pics of an AH150 and seen a Line Out underneath the master volume. That would be ideal.

thanks for that,i was just afraid of blowing the thing up by not having some load connected to the output tranny.there is a line out,low level signal out and a balanced DI for the pa and the effects send and return so i am guessing it will be the line out.i am not at home at the moment so i cant see it but i will get back to you if i am in any doubt.thanks again.
