Trace Elliot GP11Mk5 DI problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hiya! Not sure if anyone can help with this. I have an Trace GP11Mk5 combo (yes its old but damn I can get a great sound out of it! ;-)

The DI socket now has recently starting humming when anything is plugged into it. It doesn't seem to be a ground loop issue since I can plug an unconnected XLR cable into it and the hum starts immediately. The hum can be heard through the speaker cam and if the XLR is connected to a mixer the other end the hum is also audible with the signal at the mixing desk. Really odd!

Anyone come across this before? Was considering just swapping the XLR socket as a first option but if this is a common fault or anyone has come across it before then might help to identify the source of the prob

Thanks for any help on this.

Joe
