| Trace Elliot GP7-SM 300W Bass Amp Head and Tech 21 SansAmp Character Series VT Bass

Recently i bought this Trace Elliot amp (GP7-SM 300W) and i wanted to know if it is better for me to run my Tech 21 SansAmp Character Series VT Bass before the amp, or run it through the FX loop. I tryed many settings but i seem to get a muddy sound. By the way my bass is a Epiphone Thunderbirt IV with passive Seymour Duncan's SSB-4. Any suggestions are welcomed!!!
