Trace Elliot Series 6 GP12 Problem?

Hi
Just got a Trace Elliot Series 6 GP12 combo (4x12) which I really like. However I am noticing a loud "THUMP" through the speakers when switching the amp on. A friend told me that this was normal behaviour for this amp, but im not sure.
I am hoping I can get some advice/comments on this Powering up issue, from forum members who may have experienced similar issues with the GP12.
thanks in advance
Mike

Many amps do this, just keep the volume off when powering on.

Mine's newer, has power amp activate switch, and has always given a little whump to let me know it's ready for business.

every Trace amp I've ever had does the 'whump' on start up... don't worry about it!

A lot of heads make a thump when you turn them on or off. Turning the volume down beforehand often helps. Otherwise, I usually turn my head on before plugging in the speakers, and turn it off after unplugging them.

Pluging/unplugging a live speaker cable is bad practice even if you think you're ok with it being turned down. So was taught to me by a guy who taught me a bunch of useful stuff.
