Trace Elliot Series 6 Troubleshoot

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

Today I went to the rehearsal room, where I normally just relax and have a good time. The owner was building some extra practise rooms and showed me the progress, my eyes fell on this old amp.
It was a Series 6 Ah100 Gp7. so, I said: What is it doing under that mess. It happened to be that it broke, and if I put it on it will give a hum. I tried to check for the fuse, but it was ok.
I think it seems to be something with the earth being broken.
But that's just a guess. See it like a big Hum, like if you put your amp on at 10, you'll hear that big warm hum. Or your amp is just too good..
There are no tones whatsoever, it's just hum.

Maybe an expert could help me, but who knows, Talkbass has it's experts.

If you get a loud hum but the fuse doesn't blow you've probably got a problem in the early stages of the power amp.

Btw I don't think it's the poweramp, I think it's the preamp, because If I put the poweramp up to 10, and the preamp to 1 and off, I will hear it there( if you know what I mean.)

Wait, no you're right,
If I connect the line out to another amp, it works fine.
Thanks bassman!
